Ben Shurett: Boaz land speculation looks like good move

Posted: Friday, September 28, 2012 5:11 pm

While I too would like more information from Boaz Mayor Tim Walker about his proposal for his city to purchase the site of the former Beaulieu plant, I support the idea of cities purchasing land for future uses.

Certainly the total debt Boaz has should be considered but I don’t think that city is overloaded with long-term debt at this point.

Ben, I agree with you. WhyWhy, why do you not make since? I would like to know if you live in Boaz. $750K is paid toward Boaz's debt every year. When Boaz goes wet, revenue will triple per year. Boaz's long term debt will diminish sooner than people know. Tim Walker has tried to save money and reduce the debt to set Boaz up for a good change. examples: new roads, the garbadge pick up, city cleaning, our schools get the most money ;which as a parent , is the best; he brings the harvest festival, concerts fieworks, and city fun, we've been getting new sidewalks, more city territory, and more. WhyWhy, did you go to the fireworks, are you going to the harvest festival? I bet i know the answer to that. Tim Walker has done all of this while saving Boaz money and putting toward the debt, and has saved enough to start upgrading Boaz. That's the plan truth.

Ben why don't you and James Otto Watkins, John Thompson, and Tim Worm Walker, go in together and buy that property? Just saying.

ben with qe2 the fed is printing more money. inflation is here now in the form of food prices and gasoline. when the prime rate starts going up boaz may see the payment on their debt double or even triple. now is not a good time to buy a sows ear much less more land. just saying
