Robert Malcolm (Mac) Croft

Albertville

Robert Malcolm (Mac) Croft, 80, the first child of Robert Paul Croft and Ivah Dickey Croft, was born in Skirum, Alabama in DeKalb County. He graduated from Geraldine High School in 1956 and attended Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama. He graduated from Auburn with a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering in 1960. Two days later he was living in Huntsville, Alabama where he started the beginning of a 35-year distinguished career with NASA. Mac was an avid golfer and worked at Silver Ridge Golf Course for many years after taking an early retirement from NASA to travel with his wife.

Mac married Myra Ann Pullen on March 24, 1962. They lived in Huntsville for a couple of years, eventually moving back to Albertville where they enjoyed 42 years of marriage until Myra passed in 2004. Mac and Myra were active members of Albertville First United Methodist Church, where they attended the Upper Room Sunday School Class.

Mac is preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and his brother-in-law Ned Hazlett of California.

He is survived by his son, Robert Jace Croft (Cathy) of Boaz; his daughter, Myra Beth Croft Smith (Dewayne) of Auburn; his four granddaughters, Meagan Alexandra Smith, Sydney Ryan Smith, and Emma Bailey Smith of Auburn; and Katelyn Sloan Croft of Boaz. He is also survived by his two sisters, Mary Paula Croft Hazlett of Glendora, California, and Myra Loujean Croft Southerland (Randy) of Albertville. He is also survived by his nieces, Nedra Hazlett Patton and Susan Marie Hazlett of Glendora, California, and Angela Lorraine Watson of Birmingham.

The funeral service was held on March 24, 2019, at First United Methodist Church Albertville under the direction of Russell Kilpatrick of Adams Brown Funeral Home in Albertville.

Attalla

Edward Ellis, age 89, of Attalla, passed away Sunday night at his home.

He had a graveside service at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, 2019, at Bethsaida Cemetery. Bro. Jason Hallmark officiated the service. Casket bearers were Jason Noojin, Greg Noojin, Eric Lester, Trevor Duckett, Lee Ellis and Michael Floyd.

Visitation was from 2 until 3:45 p.m. at the funeral home.

He is survived by his wife, Jo Anne Ellis; daughter, Nadine Hughes; grandchildren, Jason Noojin, Greg (Jill) Noojin and Andi (Eric) Lester; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Lauryn, Serra, Macy, Eli and Casey Noojin, and Christa and Trevor Duckett; great-great grandchildren, Ridge and Grey; brothers, Hobert, Kenneth (Dianne) and Will (Linda) Ellis; sister, Brenda Livingston, sister-in-law, Jo Ann Ellis; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Lillie Ellis; brothers, Buford and Leslie Ellis; and sister, Juanice George.

Mary Jo Alexander, 94, of Boaz, died Monday, April 1, 2019.

A funeral service will be held Sunday, April 7, at 3 p.m. at McRae Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Fyffe Cemetery.

Survivors include sons, Jonathan (Charlene) Alexander and James David (Candace) Alexander; daughters, Jamie (Billy) Faucett and Dottie (Ray) Hoffman; nine grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and sisters, Kathryn Elizabeth Evers.

Elizabeth Ann Sitten Curtis, 81, of Mobile, formerly of Boaz, died Monday, March 25, 2019.

She is survived by her sons, Rigg Curtis, David Curtis, (Janet), and Dan Curtis; and three grandchildren.
