Frances Richey, 74, of Albertville, passed away Thursday, Oct. 3, 2019 at her residence.

Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 7, at McRae Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Wayne Brooks officiating. Burial followed in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Grove Oak. The family received friends on the day of service from noon until time of service.

Richey was born in Alabama on Dec. 28, 1944, to Jesse and Iula Stewart Sams. She was a retired nurse with more than 50 years of service.

Richey is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Beth and Jeff Baird, of Albertville; grandson and wife, T. J. and Jodi Baird, of Albertville; great-grandson, Trevor Baird; stepchildren, Julie and Phil Myers, Jeffrey and Donna Richey, all of Attalla; brother, Wendell Sams, of Holly Pond; sisters, Annie McCory and Jane Bates, both of Albertville, and Evelyn Shirey, of Guntersville.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Iula Sams; husband, Joe Richey.

Pallbearers were T. J. Baird, Phillip McCoy, Dusty Ashley, Eric Befford, Israel Ramsey and Jonathan Baird.

 

Gery Boyce Plunkett

Crossville

Gery Boyce Plunkett, 75, of Crossville, died Thursday, Oct. 3, at his residence.

Funeral services were held Sunday, Oct. 6, at Lathamville Baptist Church with Bro. Jacob Malone, Bro. Paul Talley and Stan Moore officiating. Burial followed in the adjoining cemetery.

Plunkett was born on Oct. 5, 1943. He retired from Marshall-DeKalb Electric Cooperative with 30 years of service. He was a Mason, and a lifelong farmer. He served Lathamville Baptist Church as a deacon for more than 50 years.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Virginia Lowery Plunkett; sons, Gary Plunkett, Matthew Plunkett (Lisa), Jason Plunkett; daughter, Ginny Byars (Tim); grandchildren, Austin Plunkett, Rachel Davis (Josh McCoy), Scott Plunkett (Kylie Oliver), Brynlee Herron (Joseph), Lauren Bruce, Caitlyn Moore (Nate), Jaden Richburg; great- grandchildren, Baylee Plunkett, Jessie Kate Davis, Porter Herron, Amelia Herron.  He was preceded in death by his parents, JB and Vera Holdbrooks Plunkett; brothers, Charles Plunkett, Kenneth Plunkett; infant great-granddaughter, Ivy Wrenn Plunkett.

Pallbearers were Austin Plunkett, Scott Plunkett, Jaden Richburg, Joseph Herron, Josh McCoy and Elijah Parker.

Crossville Memorial Chapel directed.

Dr. David Lee Wilson, 73, of Cleveland Street in Boaz, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2019, at UAB Medical Center

Memorial services were held Sunday, Oct.  6, at St. Paul United Methodist Church with Rev. R. G. Wilson-Lyons, Mary Page Wilson-Lyons and Rev. Joey Smith officiating. The family received friends on Sunday from 2 p.m. until service time at the church.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Lynn Wilson; daughter and son-in-Law, Mary Page and R. G. Wilson-Lyons, of Birmingham; grandchildren, Nina Katharine Wilson-Lyons and Mary Julian Wilson-Lyons; sisters, Linda Crews, of Florida, and Susan Stein, of Fairhope. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugenia and Jean Wilson; son, Wesley Wilson; sister, Nancy Wilson.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the Boaz High School Tennis Team, Sardis High School Tennis Team or the Snead State Community College Tennis Team.

Marie Cutchen Brooks, 86, of Boaz, passed away Sept. 26, 2019.

Funeral services were held Sept. 28, at McRae Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Kevin Brooks and Bro. Chris Watkins officiating. 

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Bobby Perry, of Aroney, and Donna and Kenny Smith, of Boaz; stepdaughter, Paula Neal, of Crossville; stepson-in-law, Don Rogers (Janice), of Albertville; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren.

Charlotte Bain Ferguson, 77, of Albertville, passed away Saturday, Oct. 5, 2019.

Funeral services are today, Tuesday, Oct. 8, at noon at Adams Brown Service Chapel with Bro. Ozzie Fowler and Bro. Jerry McCright officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill.

She is survived by her husband, Lamon Ferguson; sons, Jerremy Ferguson (Mary Helen), Randy Ferguson (Missy); three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Marlain Bailey (Danny); brother, Buddy Bain.
